Donorcard

For this branding project, I was tasked with designing a logo and wallet-sized card for a fictional organ donation organization, Donorcard. In this particular prompt, Donorcard was an organization that sought to sign more young people up to be organ donors, but still had a large base of older patrons. In other words, this organization was hoping to look a bit more modern, but not too edgy; universal approachability was key, especially given their cause.

Back to Branding.

The main component of the mark, the dotted “O” surrounding the heart, came from the idea that organ donors are filling a need with not only a literal piece of themselves (it could even be a heart, perhaps) but with the caring intention that they will someday help someone in need when they are gone. The heart represents both the organ and this care for others, while the dotted “O” represents the need for organ donation.

Just for some fun and exploration, I tried to take the theme of organ donation to the extreme. I hand-drew these organ-y letters and scanned them in to illustrator with Adobe Capture for this alternate Donorcard design.
